Itinerary Halmahera & Raja Ampat Sorong – Ternate 10 nights, 11 days The following itinerary has been designed to access the most engaging locations in Raja Ampat and Halmahera with the intention to dive at least three times per day. Please note that any trip plan is subject to change based on currents, waves and weather in the region. Strong currents, for example, may require adjustments to dive timing and location for safety and optimal conditions. Alternative plans can always be discussed with the Captain, Cruise Director and fellow Guests. Day 1 Pick up at your hotel or the airport in Sorong. Welcome onboard with a refreshing drink and a full safety and boat briefing. As soon as all guests have arrived, we cruise toward Dampier Strait for a check dive (depending on arrival times, 1–2 dives). Day 2 & 3 Dampier Strait & Gam We begin in one of the most iconic regions of Raja Ampat. World-renowned dive sites include Blue Magic, Cape Kri, Manta Sandy, and Manta Ridge. The unique topography of Dampier Strait funnels the Indonesian Throughflow, creating nutrient-rich waters and strong currents — resulting in extraordinary biodiversity. Expect: Oceanic and reef manta rays Wobbegongs Large schools of fusiliers and sweetlips Barracuda tornadoes Trevallies and reef sharks You will quite literally feel like you are swimming in a fish soup. A cultural land visit to Arborek Pier is also planned during our time here. Day 4 Bacan Bacan offers both underwater excitement and beautiful landscapes above water — beaches, waterfalls and lush scenery. Dive sites include: Batu Tajam: blacktip reef sharks, napoleon wrasse, large sweetlips. Ecuador: blacktips, large red scorpionfish, nudibranchs, crabs, quiet and healthy reef. Lilai Jetty: stronger currents, black manta rays passing near the jetty, bamboo sharks, pipefish and macro life. Day 5 & 6 Pulau Pisang A small group of two islands and rocky outcrops between Raja Ampat and Halmahera. The diving here is colorful and relaxed, with: Sloping reefs covered in soft corals Hard coral bommies in the shallows Schooling bumphead parrotfish Blue triggerfish aggregations Dogtooth tuna passing in the blue When currents are running, the sites become very fishy and full of action. Day 7 & 8 Patinti Strait & Saleh Area This region, near Saleh Island and Sali Bay, offers dramatic topography, remote beaches and spectacular marine life. Frequent sightings include: Giant trevallies Grey reef and blacktip sharks Tunas Schools of fusiliers and surgeonfish Dive highlights: Selat Proco: blacktips, grey reef sharks, dogtooth tuna, mini canyons and overhangs. Saleh Besar: channel drift with canyons and rock blocks, very fishy. Jabu: vibrant coral reefs; the south/southeast point is especially spectacular. Kusu: coral gardens, glassfish, pygmy seahorses, leaf fish, bamboo sharks. Pulau Pokal: high rock in mid-channel, long plateau at ~30 m. Saleh Kecil: tortured topography, healthy corals and big fish. Pulau Nanas: colorful reefs, glassfish schools, nudibranchs, blue hairy crab, lobster, scorpionfish and crocodile fish. Day 9 & 10 Ternate & Hiri Island We now enter North Maluku waters. At Hiri Island, expect: Large barracuda schools Dugongs Dolphins Reef sharks Turtles Dramatic walls with visibility of 30–40 meters For guests who prefer milder currents, we can dive: Sulamadaha (black sand) Jikomalamo (white sand, dense coral gardens, bumphead parrotfish schools, pelagics) We will also dive the KM Pari Wreck (12–20 m), including three buses that now serve as fish habitat. Night dives offer the chance to encounter the endemic Halmahera walking shark (Hemiscyllium halmahera). Further south: dramatic pinnacles, mini caves at ~27 m exiting at 30 m, colorful walls filled with reef fish, sharks, stingrays and nudibranchs. Day 11 Sail to Ternate. On our final day there will be no diving as we cruise toward port. The rooftop bar will be ready, and the dive team will assist with logbooks and photo sharing. After a farewell lunch and debriefing, guests disembark in Ternate for airport or hotel transfer — leaving with stories that will be told for years.
